Valeria Acosta

Valeria Acosta is a Senior at St. Mary’s University majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish. She will be attending the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock to obtain her medical degree. Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Valeria learned English in school while speaking Spanish at home. She has always recognized the value of speaking two languages and plans to use Spanish as a tool to help her future patients. She stays connected to her roots in Huejúcar, a small town in Jalisco, by speaking and using Spanish at home and academic settings and through her grandfather’s music.
