Mario Martz

Mario Martz was born in León, Nicaragua in 1988. He completed a master’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Texas at El Paso. He is the author of Viaje al reino de los tristes (2010) and Los jóvenes no pueden volver a casa (2017), which was selected by BBC Mundo as a reference point to understand Central America today. That same year, the Guadalajara International Book Fair included him in its “Latinoamérica Viva” and “Nombrar a Centroamérica” literary programs as one of the most relevant authors of the region. His writing has been translated into English, French, and Italian, and he has published poetry, interviews, short fiction, and nonfiction in various journals, including Rio Grande Review, Eñe, The New York Times, The Offing, and The Common.
